Homelessness Prevention and Rent Bank Program
This program is run by the Salvation Army and funded byThe Regional Municipality of York and the Government of Ontario.
Our goal is to aid in the prevention of homelessnessfor York Region residents.
We aim to provide "one time" financial assistance to:
Those who are at risk of losing their home or place of shelter.
Individuals who are homeless or living in a temporary shelter.
We also aid people to obtain and maintain affordable housing.
Do You Qualify?
Are you a resident of York Region?
Have you tried every other option available to change/rectify/solve the situation or problem?
Are you in a financial crisis and not eligible for Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program?
Are you under the threat of eviction and/or utility disconnection/arrears?
Are you homeless?
Are you living in a temporary shelter?
Maximum grant amount: 2 months' rent
Program Funders:
The Regional Municipality of York funds the Homelessness Prevention Program.
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, (MMAH) funds the Rent Bank program.
The Ministry of Community and Social Services, (MCSS) funds the Emergency Energy Program.
